Firefly's "Noise of Summer" mission carried a class of small satellites called CubeSats that were developed by universities and nonprofits through NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative. | ABC7

WATCH: A Firefly Alpha rocket that launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base Thursday evening exploded about 2 minutes and 30 seconds after it took off.
