The Process of a Woodcut Artist Jon Renzella

March 12th is National Plant A Flower Day! It’s a day to start preparing your garden for spring. For today, Howard letterpress printed an electrotype (copy of a woodcut) from the Bill Gaylord Collection. Bill was a longtime docent at the Sacramento History Museum and was a collector of letterpress cuts. He also was the person who trained Howard in the print shop 27 years ago. We have a few electrotypes similar to this one in our print shop where there is a small mortised box on top of the image.
