“Gentle On My Mind” was written and first recorded by John Hartford in 1967. The song was inspired by the love story between Yuri Zhivago and Lara Antipova in the movie “Doctor Zhivago.” Glen Campbell fell in love with the song and recorded and released his own version the same year.
