Oct 31, 2006 · Dead leaves are considered "browns". That is why tilling them into a garden in spring can rob the plants of nitrogen, as the leaves need additional to decompose. Once they are composted, they are fine. I layer shredded leaves with a sprinkling of blood meal and some cold wood ash. By the end of winter, they're beautiful compost.

Nov 22, 2024 · Through the wall kits are fairly easy as long as you can locate suitable studs for mounting and use all the same duravent components ie: duraplus for duraplus, dura triple wall for dura triple wall, about the only thing off wise that could be mixed in the chimney system is the interior single wall black pipe from the stove collar to the thimble.

Jul 15, 2007 · Hampton Home and Hearth has pellets for 239.00 a ton but they have a flay 75.00 delivery fee. So the Ace is a better deal for me unless I were going to buy 7 tons. I imagine i'll wait 'till Spring when prices drop and grab 3 tons from whoever gives me the best delivered price.

Jul 26, 2009 · well it is indeed caulked. however the underlying issue remains, the liner is at a slant which is causing it to "pull" away from the masonry portion and create a gap. as can be seen in the photo. i will check on it in a couple days to see if it moved even more.

Extending existing fireplace hearth for wood-burning insert
Jan 20, 2011 · Driving to SLC from our home was about 400 miles round trip - did it one day on I-15. It gave my wife and me the opportunity to enjoy a nice dinner in SLC and check out a few other things. Next month we are driving to Seattle to visit the Seattle home show - 1600 miles round trip. By the way, the big Hearth Expo is in SLC the first week in March.
Can a pellet stove legally be the primary source of heat?
Feb 5, 2015 · Looking to break ground on a new home and am finalizing what I want for heat. What I want is a Harman P43 - which comes with auto-ignite and a thermostat. The HVAC guys that I'm talking to for my back-up heating (mini-splits) are telling me that a pellet stove can not be used as a primary heat source.
