Follow the recipe for the cookies, shape them into balls as normal, then press the center in with your finger. Make a batch of just the top layer of gooey butter cake. Spoon a bit into the depression you made in the cookie. Then bake as directed.

I’m sure some bakeries might have them but when comes to gooey butter cake/cookies I can’t tell a difference between the fancier places and the grocery stores. It’s all good.
