Aug 27, 2023 · From what I understand the Asus X99 Deluxe II came along shortly after NVMe was a thing and does support M.2 SSD's in NVMe mode. However the list of compatible drives is quite small with only Samsung 950 512Gb being the highest capacity.

Worked very well. ok i bought a Asus X99 Deluxe ii and can confirm the m2 slot does support nvme boot drives. I have asus x99 and msi x99 boards here that are booting from m.2 with no issues.
