Look no further than Iga Swiatek. Earlier this summer, the sky was falling for Swiatek. She failed to defend any of her clay court titles, sank in the WTA Rankings, and was fielding outlandish questions about possibly skipping the grass court season altogether (luckily, that did not happen).

With her win over Jasmine Paolini, Iga Swiatek has now racked up 11 WTA 1000 titles, putting her second on the list since 2009, with only Serena Williams ahead of her. Serena Williams has racked up 13 titles at this level since 2009, the year the WTA first introduced the Premier Mandatory tier that later became known as WTA 1000 events.

WTA star Eva Lys recently voiced her opinion about Iga Swiatek earning significantly less than Carlos Alcaraz for their win at the Cincinnati Open.

Iga Swiatek overtook Coco Gauff to become World No. 2 in the latest WTA Rankings released on Tuesday, which will be used for the US Open 2025 draw.

Swiatek's recent victories have not only improved her ranking but also affected the US Open seedings. As per WTA, the Pole has displaced Coco Gauff, who now sits at No. 3. Swiatek owns 7,933 points and is behind Aryna Sabalenka, who has 11,225 points under her belt. Gauff with 7,874 points is third behind Sabalenka and Swiatek.

Aryna Sabalenka commands the WTA rankings for yet another week heading into the US Open. The World No. 1 is the defending champion in New York.

Playing in the Fast Four scoring format, Ruud and Swiatek made quick work of their Tuesday double-header. After knocking out all-American pair Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe, 4-1, 4-2, they beat Caty McNally and Lorenzo Musetti by the same score, booking themselves a spot in Wednesday night’s mixed doubles championship evening.

Iga Swiatek has showcased her class by returning to form in a phase where, historically, she has had a mixed record. The 24-year-old went through a lean patch of more than 12 months after winning the French Open in 2024.
