Devotees thronged the Khaggu Sarai area here on Tuesday to offer prayers to an idol of Lord Hanuman that was discovered in the Bhasma Shankar temple, reopened last week after being shut for 46 years

Bareilly: Kirtans and bhajans echoed through the Shiv-Hanuman temple in Sambhal two days after its reopening on December 14, which had remained abando.

Local Hindus have been performing puja at the temple, which is close to Shahi Jama Masjid, since the Sambhal police and district administration unlocked its main gate on Saturday.

Damaged idols of Parvati, Ganesh, and Lakshmi found in a well at a recently reopened Sambhal temple spark investigation.

The Sambhal temple had been closed for decades and the local residents confirmed it had been locked since 1978. Morning aarti was being performed at the temple.
