CHIMNEY ROCK — Hundreds of people milled around in front of the Lake Lure Inn & Spa Dec. 14 as dozens of area business owners sold T-shirts and souvenirs advertising their companies, Santa Claus posed for pictures and rock music blared over speakers.
Thousands visit Chimney Rock for Christmas celebration post-Hurricane Helene
Nearly 7,000 people visited the town for a Christmas celebration. The day was filled with live music, delicious food, and games. This comes after Hurricane Helene a few months ago left a trail of devastation in the western part of the state. The storm killed 103 people in NC, over 230 storm-related deaths total.
Holiday event allows visitors into Chimney Rock for first time since Helene
The town opened its doors to visitors for one day for the “Bring Christmas to Chimney Rock” event. The event gave visitors the chance to see the progress some of western North Carolina’s hardest communities have made since Helene ripped through the state in September.
‘Don’t stop believing:’ Visitors support Chimney Rock businesses recovering from Helene
While the holidays may look a bit different in Western North Carolina this year, many in Chimney Rock are still in the holiday spirit.
