The freshly crowned Club World Cup champions are the latest side credited with interest in a player previously tracked by Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid. The Athletic claim that Chelsea have “made an enquiry” into a move for the 19-year-old this summer.

Liverpool were leading the race for the 17-year-old forward until the last few days, but Arsenal's final bid of £250,000 ($335k) plus major add-ons helped them secure the player. Meanwhile, the Reds only managed to offer a £100,000 ($134k) plus add-ons deal for the highly rated forward who has appeared in four League Two appearances for Salford.

Arsenal were looking to recruit both Zubimendi and Palhinha, with the latter’s Premier League experience from his time with Fulham of appeal to the Gunners. Palhinha spent two excellent years with Fulham between 2022 and 2024, earning himself a €56 million (£48.6 million, $65.1 million) move to the Bundesliga champions.
