Club America have made history with the first three-peat in Liga MX history after beating Monterrey in the second leg of the final on Sunday. Las Aguilas narrowly squeezed past Rayados 3-2 on aggregate to seal the Apertura 2024 crown with Richard Sanchez netting the championship-clinching goal.

Club América has done it again. Las Águilas drew Monterrey 1-1 in Sunday night's Liga MX final second leg, clinching a third consecutive title with a 3-2 aggregate victory. The draw saw André Jardine's side become the first team to win three straight titles since Liga MX switched to a short tournament format in 1996.

Monterrey took the lead for good in the 49th minute, as midfielder Álvaro Fidalgo ran forward with the ball before finding Zendejas through an accurate line-splitting pass. The winger shot to the keeper’s to make it 2-1, and the score remained that way.

América defeated Monterrey 2–1 in the first leg of the Liga MX Apertura 2024 final and are 90 minutes away from a third straight title.
