Arizona’s strict 15-week abortion ban has been blocked after voters approved an amendment to the state Constitution enshrining the right to an abortion in the state. A judge in the Maricopa County Superior Court blocked and declared the previous 2022 law unconstitutional.

Given no one stepped up to defend the law in Attorney General Kris Mayes' place, it is unlikely the case can be appealed.

Arizona's previous 15-week abortion ban has been officially declared "unconstitutional." However, March 5's ruling doesn't change the law on the books for Arizona, which is Prop 139, approved by Arizona voters last November.
