Following a Jan. 13 meeting when the Dare County Board of Education approved the decision, the Manteo High School gym was named after Stephen Basnight Jr. on Feb. 3.
The change means Beaumont Magnet Academy and Maynard Elementary School will close. West View Elementary will be converted into a preschool.
