The start time for Monday's spring training game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox has been moved because of expected heavy rainfall, foreshadowing what the Tampa Bay Rays might have to deal with this year as they play a season outdoors.

New York will compete in Spring Training games until March 25. Facing Boston would have given New York a chance to feel out the new-look Red Sox and the threat they pose in the American League East with superstar second baseman Alex Bregman and All-Star Tanner Houck on the mound. They’ll get their next crack at the Red Sox on March 18.

The Detroit Tigers continue their preseason schedule on Sunday afternoon as they head over to Tampa to take on the New York Yankees in Spring Training action. This will be the second game the Tigers have played this spring. They opened up Grapefruit League action on Saturday in Lakeland against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Red Sox-Yankees Grapefruit League game scheduled for today, Monday, February 24 at JetBlue Park has been canceled. The forecast calls for an extended period of sustained rain throughout the evening in the Lee County area.
