LOS ANGELES (AP) — A fast-moving fire broke out in the Hollywood Hills on Wednesday night, threatening one of Los Angeles’ most iconic spots as firefighters battled to get under control three other major blazes that killed five people, put 130,000 people under evacuation orders and ravaged communities from the Pacific Coast to inland Pasadena.
Iconic Hollywood Hills erupts in fire, prompting more evacuation orders in Los Angeles
As of 8:30 p.m. local time, the blaze, dubbed the Sunset Fire, consumed at least 50 acres and remains 0% contained, according to Cal Fire. Mandatory evacuations were issued for Laurel Canyon Boulevard on the west to Mulholland Drive on the north to 101 Freeway on the east down to Hollywood Boulevard on the south.
