John Oliver was trying to pay tribute to his dog during his acceptance speech at the Emmys on Sunday when a very badly timed musical cue interrupted him. Oliver and the team behind HBO's Last Week Tonight with John Oliver took the stage to accept the Emmy Award for Best Scripted Variety Series,

John Oliver's show "Last Week Tonight" took home the Emmy on Sept. 15 for scripted variety series and the host used a little profanity in his speech — but it was for a good cause. Oliver began his speech by thanking his family — wife Kate Norley and their two children — and HBO before moving on to thank another member of his family.
