Cal Fire said crews will continue reinforcing and maintaining the wildfire's containment lines as critical fire weather is here.

Some residents are beginning to assess the damage to their homes as firefighters appear to turn a corner in containing the blazes. But officials say there is much work to be done.

More than 8,600 firefighters are working the fires with the focus over the next several days on constructing containment lines and extinguishing hot spots to prevent the fires from spreading.

SoCal Edison CEO Steven Powell stated that winds in Eaton Canyon were not strong enough to warrant shutting off power lines before the deadly Eaton Fire. The fire, which began on January 7, has killed at least 16 people and destroyed thousands of homes.

The lawsuits claim SoCal Edison did not shut off power to its electrical equipment despite warnings of high winds and fire danger. SoCal Edison says it is reviewing circuits and transmission lines in the Eaton Canyon area,

Attorneys are suing Southern California Edison, alleging the utility company's negligence caused the deadly Eaton and Palisades fires.
