Authorities are investigating a deadly fire that broke out on Friday morning in a large single-family home in Lebanon, Maine. Lebanon Fire and EMS said they received a 911 call around 11:40 a.m. Friday from a passerby reporting a fully engulfed house fire at 117 Smith Road.

Five Massachusetts college students appeared in court Thursday, accused of plotting to lure a man to their campus through a dating app and then seizing him as part of a “Catch a Predator” trend on TikTok.

One person managed to escape the fire and was subsequently transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The DeSoto Fire Marshal's investigation found that the fire was caused by an electrical shortage in the attic of the home which led to short circuits and exposed wires, ultimately
