Better odds and bigger jackpots. The California Lottery Commission is scheduled to vote Thursday on changing the way the Mega Millions game is played.

The lottery jackpot was an estimated $31 million with a cash option of $13.8 million for Wednesday night's drawing, according to the Powerball website. The jackpot was last won on Jan. 18 when a Oregon lottery player won $329 million Powerball jackpot.

Four Powerball tickets sold in California won $22,700 each, but just missed the $329 million jackpot, lottery officials say. The tickets matched four of five winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Saturday, Jan. 18, the California Lottery said.
