NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Vanderbilt freshman Mikayla Blakes set the NCAA Division I freshman scoring record. Blakes poured in 53 points, making 16-24 field goals, five of nine three point attempts, and 16-18 free throws.
On top of that, Blakes set the NCAA Division I freshman record for points, surpassing USC star Juju Watkins (51). Blakes also broke the SEC scoring record of 51 points, which was set by South Carolina's Jocelyn Penn in 2003 and Tennessee's Patricia Roberts in 1976.
