Tropical Storm Sara formed this afternoon and threatens to bring "life-threatening and potentially catastrophic flash flooding and mudslides" to Honduras throughout the weekend, according to the latest update from the National Hurricane Center. A turn toward Florida is still possible, forecasters said.

Tropical Storm Sara has formed in the Caribbean, putting Florida residents on alert for a possible midweek storm. Sara developed into a tropical storm on the afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 14, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). The system currently has maximum sustained winds near 40 mph and even higher gusts.

The National Hurricane Center is also asking residents of the eastern Gulf Coast, including Florida, to monitor the storm closely since it has the potential to reach the US.
