Shares of the Virginia-based company, which owns about 2% of all bitcoin, has outperformed even Nvidia over the last five years.

Some 40% of MicroStrategy's bitcoin position has been acquired in the past 40 days, wrote Bernstein analysts on Monday. Within the past month alone, MicroStrategy purchased more than 100,000 bitcoins for $10.5 billion, SEC filings show.

MicroStrategy announced Monday that it acquired another 15,350 bitcoins, bringing its total holdings to of the token to 439,000.
