This desk, the ‘C&O,’ which is also very well known and was used by President George H.W. Bush and others, has been temporarily installed in the White House while the Resolute Desk is being lightly refinished—a very important job.

For 145 years, the Resolute Desk has been closely associated with US presidents, having first been placed in the Oval Office during John F Kennedy’s tenure. But Donald Trump has decided to remove it and replace it with the C&O Desk.

That’s why the iconic Resolute Desk has been temporarily removed from the Oval Office. Trump on Truth Social announced that the Resolute Desk needs refurbishing. So he’s had the desk moved out for now and replaced by what is known as the C&O desk, which he called a “beautiful” but “temporary” replacement.

Gone is the Resolute Desk which Musk’s son, Little X, hung out over, knuckle deep in his nose, while Trump sat there and watched Elon talk to the media about DOGE. It appeared that the youngster may have wiped something on the desk, too, possibly marking its demise.
