Jamie Lloyd’s spin on the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical has caused a stir by sending the protagonist outside the theater to perform "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" to crowds on the street.

While Hollywood actress Rachel Zegler enjoys rave reviews for her London Palladium starring role in Evita - she belts out famous number Don’t Cry For Me Argentina from the outdoor balcony to delighted street crowds below - co-writer Sir Tim Rice surprisingly hasn’t been among the song’s biggest fans.

Evita' is exciting and sharply executed, and Rachel Zegler's vocal performance is thrilling. But the storytelling gets flattened.
