The PGA Tour returned to the mainland U.S. this week, and once again three southern California courses were the scene for the American Express. The event offered an $8.8 million purse, with $1.584 million to the winner.

Matthieu Pavon earned his first PGA Tour victory thanks to a gutsy birdie on the 72nd hole. After some bunker issues with his second shot at the par-5 18th on the South course, Pavon stuffed his approach from the thick rough to 8 feet. He then made the putt for a one-shot victory.

On Friday at the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open, amateurs Luke Clanton and Jackson Koivun made the cut. There were among the 70 golfers who have advanced to the final two rounds at Torrey Pines. The PGA Tour notes that it's "the first time in the last 55 years that two amateurs have made the cut at this event in a single year.
