VANCOUVER — When the Bruins gather for their workout Monday morning in Calgary, the new Bostonian on the block, Oliver Wahlstrom, is expected to be on the ice for his first reps as a Black-and-Gold puck slinger.

The Boston Bruins claimed forward Oliver Wahlstrom off waivers on Saturday. The Maine native never lived up to the expectations of being a first-round pick with the New York Islanders, but the Bruins are hoping that a change of scenery will get him back to form and help their struggling offense.

VANCOUVER — Oliver Wahlstrom knows how to shoot. The 24-year-old right-shot wing snaps off heavy and accurate pucks. The New York Islanders thought highly enough of Wahlstrom’s puck-launching skill to take him No. 11 overall in 2018.
