Counties with ongoing measles transmission include Gaines, Lamar and Lubbock. At 413 cases, Gaines County is still home to a vast majority of the outbreak. Terry County follows at 60 cases.

Overall, 742 Texas residents contracted measles, including 411 people in Gaines County, which saw the most cases in the state, along with Terry County, Lubbock County and El Paso County.

Large outbreaks such as the one that began in Gaines County, however, pose a threat to the country's elimination status. Vaccination is the best way to stem the spread of measles.
