Chicago police said the teen, identified by the Medical Examiner as Tawon Tribble, was inside the home in the 500 block of West 65th Place, when a gun was fired just after 6:45 p.m. The 13-year-old was struck in the chest. Tribble was taken to the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital, where he died.

An 8-year-old boy shot and killed inside his home Thursday night in Chicago’s Grand Crossing neighborhood was identified Friday morning by the Cook County Medical Examiner.
