Rudi Garcia has been appointed as Belgium 's new coach, the country's football federation said on Friday. Garcia has coached several large European clubs including Napoli, Marseille and Roma in his much-travelled career but has never managed a national side.

Belgium has appointed former Roma and Napoli boss Rudi Garcia as its new head coach, with Eden Hazard named as his assistant.

The Frenchman was named boss by the Belgian football association, beating reported competition from former assistant coach Thierry Henry, Julen Lopetegui and Mark van Bommel
