Apple announced Wednesday it would spend $2.5 billion to fund the expansion of glass manufacturing for iPhones with Corning, a Harrodsburg-based company. Apple said the glass for all iPhones and Apple Watches would be made at the Corning facility.

Not only will manufacturing expand at the facility, but the opening of a new innovation center is something Sen. Amanda Mays Bledsoe believes is promising for rising Kentucky graduates.

Apple deepened ties with Corning Inc.'s Kentucky plant by awarding another $45 million to support the company's work to supply glass for the tech giant’s iPhones and other devices. 100 percent of iPhone and Apple Watch cover glass will be made in Kentucky.
