PHOENIX -- Newest Phoenix Suns center Nick Richards won't be suiting up tonight against the Washington Wizards. After being acquired Wednesday from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Josh Okogie and three second-round picks, Richards is listed on the injury report as out (not with team).
The Washington Wizards are getting ready to face off against the Phoenix Suns tonight, but before the game, a slight change was made to the road team's roster.
Even against the bottom of the barrel, you still see the Phoenix Suns' problems, as evidenced by their win over the Washington Wizards.
Phoenix addressed its size issue by adding Richards, who averaged 11.3 points on 61.7% shooting, 10.2 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 27.2 minutes in nine starts with the Hornets. For the season, he is averaging 8.9 points on 56.1% shooting, 7.5 rebounds. 1.2 blocks and 21.0 minutes per game in 21 games with Charlotte.
The Phoenix Suns may have made a trade for him late Wednesday evening before the team clashes against the Washington Wizards, but newly-acquired center Nick Richards’ debut for his new team will have to wait for another day.
During Week 13, the Blazers will play four games, beginning with the Heat on Tuesday. With Mark Williams firmly entrenched as Charlotte’s starting center, Richards needed a move to have a chance of establishing his fantasy ceiling.
Much like his fans, Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant is excited for the acquisition of seven-foot center Nick Richards from the Charlotte Hornets. “He’s a strong presence in the paint,” Durant told Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic.
The Phoenix Suns have made a trade. No, not that trade. Jimmy Butler remains a member of the Miami Heat for the time being, but even as the Suns continue to try to pry him away, they have managed to make a deal of another sort by acquiring Charlotte Hornets center Nick Richards along with a 2025 Denver Nuggets second-round pick for Josh Okogie and three second-round picks: two from the Nuggets (2026 and 2031) along with a Suns original (2031).
The Phoenix Suns (19-20) play the second of their five-game road trip at the Washington Wizards (6-32) on Thursday.
Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer explained before Thursday's game the significance of trading for Nick Richards.
The Suns are still without Jusuf Nurkic, who has yet to join the team on this five-game road trip because he’s been out with the flu. He'll miss a third straight game on Thursday.
