There was a game between the Minnesota Wild and Nashville Predators Saturday night in Nashville, Tenn., but that ultimately wasn't the main event. Retribution was on deck. The Wild (27-15-4) were determined to even the score for Zach L'Heureux's slew-foot of Jared Spurgeon on New Year's Eve.

Saros was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, Nick Kieser of 102.5 ESPN Nashville reports, indicating he will patrol the home crease versus Minnesota on Saturday. Saros is coming off a 24-save performance in Thursday's 3-2 shootout win over Chicago.

Steven Stamkos, Gustav Nyquist, and Ryan O'Reilly went 3-for-3 in the shootout to lift the Nashville Predators 3-2 over the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Wild settled the score but fumbled the game. After three fights in 4½ minutes — the first in response to the slew foot that still has captain Jared Spurgeon sidelined — the Wild blew an early lead and got rolled 6-2 by the Predators on Saturday night at Bridgestone Arena for their third straight loss.

Forsberg extended his goal streak to five games after not scoring in the previous 18. Roman Josi had two assists for the Predators (16-22-7), who have won three consecutive games. David Jiricek scored for the Wild early in a fight-filled opening period, but they struggled to find other offense until Nashville had taken a comfortable lead, losing their third consecutive game.

Filip Forsberg tied it with 3:03 left with his 300th NHL goal, and Juuse Saros made 24 saves in regulation and overtime. Gustav Nyquist and Ryan O’Reilly scored on Nashville's first two attempts in the tiebreaker and Stamkos put it away on the third.

Nashville took over after the rough stuff, led by veteran scorer Filip Forsberg (two goals and assist), captain Roman Josi (two assists) and goaltender Juuse Saros (27 saves), as the Predators continue their second-half reclamation under coach and former Wild player Andrew Brunette.

The Predators' next game is at home versus the Sharks on Tuesday.
