The Minnesota Wild have recalled forward Devin Shore from the Iowa Wild, the team announced Friday. Shore, a product of Ajax, Ont., has split time between the NHL and AHL this season, collecting an assist in 25 games with Minnesota and 10 points in 14 games for Iowa.

Both the Stars and Canadiens have been two of the league’s hottest teams over the last month. Montreal is 11-2-1 in its last 14 games. Dallas has won 10 of its last 12.

Dallas Stars forward Mason Marchment is facing a four-week absence after suffering fractures in his nose and facial area.

The Dallas Stars have shown interest in trading for New York Islanders center Brock Nelson, according to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic. As the March 7 trade deadline approaches, Dallas finds itself in a favorable position to add a key player, thanks to potential cap flexibility from Tyler Seguin’s long-term injured reserve (LTIR) designation.

The Minnesota Wild have added defensemen Jonas Brodin and Brock Faber to their list of key injured players and left them out of the lineup for their game against Colorado.

The Stars are in the first wild card spot despite a mediocre road record, but have a five-game road trip and a chance to turn that around.

That is good news for Dallas forward Roope Hintz, who has been the team’s best goal scorer this season. He leads the Stars with 19 tallies and is looking for further success against the Sens. These two teams just squared off 10 days ago, and Hintz scored twice in that meeting.

"A pleasure to play for him right from Day 1," Stars forward Matt Duchene said. "He pushes guys, he barks a little bit at times, but it's never personal and the message is usually accurate. His X's and O's are really elite. Tough to find many flaws."

Utah Hockey Club centre Jack McBain has been fined US$4,166.67 for high-sticking Montreal Canadiens winger Brendan Gallagher, the NHL announced Wednesday.

Leevi Meriläinen was drafted 71st overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The Finnish netminder then spent time with Finland’s  Kärpät before moving to North America with the Kingston Frontenacs (OHL) in 2021-22.

John Klingberg is closing in on an NHL return, and the Maple Leafs, Senators and Oilers are all reportedly interested in the veteran D-man.
