Las Vegas Sands has withdrawn its bid to build a $6 billion casino at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island. The company cites the threat of online gambling, the economic climate and better uses of capital as reasons for pulling out.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. is dropping efforts to develop a New York casino, partly over concerns that online betting in the state would crimp results for a land-based property. The company announced the decision on a call with investors Wednesday.
