Multiple wildfires, including the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire, are raging across Southern California Thursday, leaving at least 10 dead and burning more than 27,000 acres, officials say. Police have arrested 20 suspected looters.

Firefighters reported some progress fighting the wildfires that have charred hillsides, homes and streets in Los Angeles County, but the strong winds that fanned the flames were expected to pick up again on Friday,

Meanwhile, firefighters battled multiple wildfires Thursday that ravaged communities across Los Angeles, destroying more than 10,000 structures.

California is the US state most affected by wildfires as of 2023, according to the National Interagency Coordination Center. Extreme heat and longer droughts have driven more intense fires, and that has prompted insurance companies to flee.
