The dangerous fire conditions in Southern California are expected to last a little longer than previously anticipated. The red flag warning was set to expire at 2 p.m., but the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in an alert that it had been extended until 10 p.

LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley said the department has staffed all available resources and fire patrols and engines are being strategically placed in the high-fire risk areas of the city.

Residents were evacuated as a brush fire broke out in Poway, San Diego County, California, on Monday, January 20, amid a red flag warning. The blaze was contained, and the cause remained under investigation.
