Starting pitcher Max Fried departed from the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday when he signed an eight-year, $218 million deal with the New York Yankees. However, he didn’t leave without saying goodbye to the fans and organization he spent a decade with.

Atlanta Braves star pitcher Max Fried is saying goodbye to the A. The two-time All-Star left-handed pitcher and the New York Yankees reached an 8-year agreement and a $218 million contract. In a video posted to Instagram on Saturday, Fried gave a heartfelt goodbye message to his home for the last decade.

Unlike Freddie Freeman‘s free agency saga, Max Fried‘s departure from Atlanta was rather anticlimactic. For over a year, analysts had predicted the Braves’ ace would leave for greener pastures, confidently stating he had priced himself out of the team’s budget with his stellar performance.

The Braves lost Max Fried in free agency and must go replace him in the rotation with Sean Manaea, Walker Buehler, or Nick Pivetta.
