A little more than two years after lopping “HBO” off of the streamer’s name to create the breezily-named Max streamer, Warner Bros. Discovery has decided to reverse course. Max — the unloved mononymous identity, too cool or too anxious to acknowledge its origins — is HBO Max once more .

Two years after dropping "HBO" from the name, Max is HBO Max once again ... while of course not acknowledging that any mistake was made.

Warner Bros. Discovery is changing the name of its streaming platform back to its original name, HBO Max. Launched in 2020, HBO Max changed its name to just Max in 2023, after a merger between Warner Media and Discovery, Inc. in 2022.
