Incumbent Texas Gov. Greg Abbott won his primary at 81.8%, according to AP and CNN. He stands to be the longest-serving governor of the state and has over $100 million in campaign cash to win, according to The Texas Tribune.

Texans cast their ballots in the 2026 primaries, choosing their parties' candidates for key federal, statewide, and legislative races leading up to the November general election.

The Texas primary runoff election is on Tuesday, May 26. Early voting starts on Monday, May 18 and goes until Friday, May 22. The last day to register to vote for the runoff primary election is April 27.
