The Seattle Seahawks had quite the climb in a recent Coach-QB duo ranking, due in large part to Mike Macdonald.

After Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold lifted the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LX, one of the heaviest praises came from the quarterback who had helped the team win its first Super Bowl in 2014.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald and quarterback Sam Darnold were ranked by SI as the seventh-best coach-QB duo in the league.

Sam Darnold had one major issue in 2025, which needs to be corrected for the Seattle Seahawks to successfully defend their title.

"Coach Macdonald and Darnold led Seattle to its first Super Bowl victory since the 2013 season in 2025. Under Macdonald, the Seahawks were one of the best defenses in the league last season and also had an elite, balanced offense. As for Darnold, the USC product continued his excellent play after emerging as a late-bloomer in 2024.
