One Southern California restaurant took the top spot on Yelp’s annual Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S. list. Holbox, a Mexican seafood restaurant located in South Los Angeles, was named the best place to eat in the U.

A self-described “order-at-the-counter seafood stand” in South L.A. made it to the top of Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat for 2025. Holbox is located near the entrance of a food hall called Mercado La Paloma in the Figueroa Corridor of Los Angeles. Customers wait for more than an hour to order “some of the freshest seafood around,” according to Yelp.

Heirloom, 8398 North Fresno St. in Fresno, was No. 50 on Yelp’s list of the best restaurants in the nation. The restaurant in Fresno’s Park Crossing shopping center has an average Yelp rating of 4.6 stars out of five, with reviewers praising its “great customer service” and “delicious homemade food.”

Yelp's list of the Top 100 Places to Eat in 2025 has been released. Southern Yankee Crafthouse in Houston made the list for the second straight year. Casual Mexican restaurant Holbox from Los Angeles topped the list.

Just ahead of Valentine’s Day, Yelp has released its “Top 100 Places to Eat in 2025” list, with several San Diego-area restaurants earning kudos.
