Maple Leafs Make 2 Roster Moves Involving Top Prospect
The Toronto Maple Leafs made two roster moves on Monday, assigning forward Fraser Minten to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies and recalling defenseman Dakota Mermis. The decision allows Minten, the No. 2 prospect in Toronto's pipeline, to get more ice time in the AHL while opening the door for Mermis to potentially make his Maple Leafs debut.

Why The Maple Leafs Recalled Defenseman Dakota Mermis And Sent Fraser Minten Back To Marlies
Once able to return, Toronto placed Mermis on waivers in hopes he'd clear and play in the AHL. The defenseman was claimed by the Utah Hockey Club on Dec. 12 and played one game with the club before going back on waivers in early January. The Maple Leafs claimed the defenseman off of waivers and were able to assign him to the Marlies.
