Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive back Jimmy Johnson, a three-time All-Pro and member of the All-Decade team of the 1970s, died on Wednesday at age 86.

Mr. Johnson, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1994, played his entire 16-year pro career with San Francisco. He appeared in 213 games, more than any other 49ers player at the time of his retirement.

The 49ers lost a heap of former Pro Bowl and All-Pro talent, including wide receiver Deebo Samuel, safety Talanoa Hufanga, and cornerback Charvarius Ward, along with a half-dozen other solid players.
