The Gerber Products Company is recalling its flavored teething sticks for babies and young children because they may pose a potential choking hazard.

An institution in baby food is recalling some of its teething sticks due to a choking hazard. Gerber says it is recalling its strawberry apple and banana soothe-and-chew teething sticks. It comes after the FDA received complaints of choking from parents. FDA officials say one child had to be taken to the emergency room.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported that Gerber Products Company is issuing a recall and discontinuation of its “Soothe N Chew” teething sticks. The product poses a risk of a “potential choking hazard for babies and young children.”

Nestlé USA, the parent company of Gerber Products Company, announced Gerber has recalled and discontinued all batches of its teething sticks over a “potential choking hazard.” The product was sold online and at retail stores in 45 states, including New Jersey and neighboring Pennsylvania and New York, according to the release.

Gerber announced it was recalling its “Soothe N Chew” teething sticks because the products could pose a potential choking hazard for babies and toddlers.

Gerber recently began recalling and discontinuing its Soothe n Chew Teething Sticks. In a Jan. 31 press release, the company said it posed a "potential choking hazard."
