Georgia committee discuss sweeping changes legislation to election rules for paper ballot , Election Board voter registration database.

Georgia GOP-controlled Senate panel passed House Bill 397, which still contains several controversial rule changes, but no longer includes plans to hand voter challenge complaints to state election officials and enforce new ballot counting methods.

A new bill pending before a Georgia Senate committee would try to force the state out of a multistate group that tries to maintain accurate voter rolls.
