The final full moon of 2024 will also feature a rare celestial event not seen in nearly two decades. On Sunday, December's full moon will rise and set at its most extreme northerly and southerly points of the horizon as a result of a phenomenon that occurs every 18.6 years, known as the "major lunar standstill" or lunistice.
