Apple has become the largest company in the world, becoming the world’s first firm to reach a $3 trillion valuation in 2022.

Apple marked the 44th anniversary of its 1980 initial public offering on Thursday, and a $1,000 investment at the time of the IPO would now be worth nearly $2.5 million.

Apple raised roughly $100 million in its IPO in 1980. Today, it's worth more than $3 trillion. But AAPL stock didn't always seem like a good investment.
