After a rare tornado earning an EF-1 rating from the National Weather Service in Scotts Valley Saturday afternoon toppled cars and forced residents to take cover, police Sunday said the number of reported injuries remains consistent at five with no fatalities reported as the cleanup continued.

The National Weather Service says a tornado hit Scotts Valley on Saturday at around 1:40 p.m. Several people were injured during the tornado. The NWS stated that a preliminary damage survey determined that the tornado was categorized as a 1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale.
