On August 10, the Indiana Fever announced they had signed veteran guard Odyssey Sims to a hardship contract. This came in the wake of Fever guards Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson suffering season-ending injuries during a game last week, while star guard Caitlin Clark is also still nursing a groin injury.

Odyssey Sims had just one day of practice with the Fever before Tuesday's game. But as a player who has done that before, she knows how to handle it.

With superstar Caitlin Clark out indefinitely due to a groin injury, Indiana had turned to veteran backup Sydney Colson and midseason pickup Aari McDonald to run the point. They accrued a 9-9 record without Clark, winning the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup along the way.
