Alabama's veteran point guard had his best shooting night and highest scoring output of the season in the victory over the Bluejays.

Mark Sears scored 27 points and number seven Alabama held off a late comeback try, beating Creighton Saturday night. Sears, a senior guard who added six rebounds and four assists, hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final six minutes and shot 8 for 15 from the field.

Creighton’s Jackson McAndrew scored 13 of his 16 points in the last six minutes, keeping the Bluejays (7-4) withing striking distance for most of the final minutes. Steven Ashworth led Creighton with 20 points and Ryan Kalkbrenner had 18 points and seven rebounds.

Mark Sears recorded 27 points and six rebounds to help No. 7 Alabama notch an 83-75 victory over Creighton on Saturday night at Tuscaloosa, Ala.

No. 7 Alabama basketball (4-1) defeated No. 20 Illinois (3-1), 100-87, but it did it without a point from SEC Preseason Player of the Year Mark Sears.
